Volunteer Trail Work Schedule
Give back to the places that give us so much.
Maine’s trails aren’t just paths through the woods — they are the threads that connect us to nature, to each other, and to the incredible wild beauty that defines our region. At Midcoast Trails Stewardship (MTS), we believe that trail work is a way of giving back — a hands-on, dirt-under-your-nails way to preserve the landscapes we love.
This 2025 season, we invite you to join our crew of volunteers in maintaining and enhancing the trails that wind through our forests, hills, and bogs — from the Thomaston Town Forest to the Camden Snow Bowl and deep into the Rockland Bog along the Georges Highland Path. Our vision is to connect communities through trails — and with your help, we can make it a reality.
No experience? No problem. Our crew will teach you what you need to know, and you’ll walk away with new skills, stronger muscles, and a deeper appreciation for what it takes to keep trails open and beautiful.

Volunteer Tuesdays – Every Week, All Season
When: Tuesday evenings
Where: Wherever the MTS crew is currently mobilized.
Each Tuesday evening, we’ll roll up our sleeves for light- to moderate-duty projects — brushing back trail corridors, repairing tread, and keeping nature’s slow reclaim at bay. It's a chance to be outside after work, meet like-minded folks, and make a meaningful impact with just a few hours of effort.
Volunteer Saturdays – Every Other Week
When: Every other Saturday
Where: Key trail sections needing intensive care.
Saturdays are for the big jobs — building bridges, installing rock armoring, constructing new trail reroutes, or handling serious erosion control. These are great days to learn trail-specific skills and build physical strength, all while making a tangible difference that will last for years.

Every Tuesday starting June 10 through October 28
Saturdays:
June 7 - Thomaston Town Forest 9am
July 5 & 19
August 2, 16 & 30
September 13 & 27
October 11 & 25
